‘Excellence’ is a word that is frequently used in business missions and values. What really does it mean?

Transcending and surpassing expectations; rising in merit and value; being positively distinctive and exceedingly great in character, feature or ability. Excellence should be our aim in all that we are and do, if we desire success in business.

Easy

Make it easy for us to do business. Better yet, make sure your product and service is easy for me to buy, receive and use.

Economical

Don’t waste anything. Show me you care about the things I care about, like saving money and respecting the environment. Don’t sell me something I really don’t need. Look out for my best interests.

Effective

Time is money. So don’t waste my time either. Complete our transaction simply, smoothly, and quickly.

Endorse

How can I be convinced of a product or service that you don’t subscribe to yourself? Be proud to stand by your product or service. Be willing to recommend it.

Energy

Exude energy and enthusiasm. It’s contagious.

Engage and Engross

Allow (and encourage) me to get involved.

Enhance

Show me how the product or service improves my situation or circumstance.

Enjoy

Allow me to experience how good this can make me feel.

Enlighten

Bring to my attention something I don’t know about your product or service.

Enrich

Do everything you can to make my experience wonderful.

Ensure

Give me a guarantee.

Entertain

Let’s have a fun transaction. Have a laugh or two. It will make my experience memorable.

Equality

Treat all customers equally. No matter how much (or how little) I spend at your establishment, treat me with as much importance as the next guy.

Ethical

I want to know that you have values and are ethical in your treatment of me, your other customers, your staff, your community and the environment.

Evolution

Change with the times. Know what is needed and expected. Adapt.

Exceed

Give me great value for my money. Give me more than I expect. Surprise me.

Excite

Make your product or service something I look forward to.

Expertise

Make sure your staff are fully trained and know their job, product and service, inside and out.

Extraordinary

Make my experience at your establishment something I’ll never forget (in a good way!) and want to tell everyone about (in the highest esteem!).
